On Saturday, November 16, 2024, weather permitting, Flossmoor School District 161 will be applying an herbicide and a fertilizer to the district’s fields / grass areas at Normandy Villa, Serena Hills, Western Avenue, Heather Hill, Flossmoor Hills, and Parker Junior High. The products that will be used for this application are The Andersons Turf Products Fertilizer with Barricade Herbicide and Trimec 992 Broadleaf Herbicide. These products comprise a selective broadleaf herbicide and a lawn fertilizer that will be used to control weeds / dandelions in these areas and will also fertilize all district lawns.

Reminder to D161 families: There will be no school on October 11 in observance of Yom Kippur and no school on October 14. We will see you in class on Tuesday, October 15.
Great things are happening with standards based learning at Flossmoor Hills! Students know the target and how to meet it! Check out our kindergarten students conferencing and discussing how they are performing on the standard.
Happy National Custodian Day to the best custodians around! Thank you to Mr. Bragg, Mr. Bently and Ms. Cedeno for taking great care of our building so that our students can learn!
Students are having a great time with our new P.E. curriculum. Mr. Kelly introduced Lacrosse to classes this week. Students are working on the technique of flicking and scooping.
At Flossmoor Hills students collaborate and have discussion on the learning targets and rate themselves on a scale of 1-4. We believe in fostering student agency!

A reminder to our D161 family:
There is NO SCHOOL on Monday, September 2, 2024, in observance of Labor Day.

This event is brought to you by the Village of Flossmoor, the Flossmoor Public Library, and Flossmoor District 161. Students and families can enjoy a sweet treat, meet with community partners, and connect with friends both new and old. See you there!
Don't forget to CHALK YOUR WALK and welcome staff and students back to school on Wednesday, August 14, anytime after 4 p.m. You can chalk the sidewalk in front of your home, your school playground, or your local bus stop.
